The cable you need
An Ultra96 HDMI cable, once you have a device that uses it. For anything you own today, Ultra High Speed is enough.
HDMI 2.2 was announced at CES in January 2025. It doubles the link to 96 Gbps and introduces a new certified cable tier, Ultra96. It is aimed at 4K and 8K at higher refresh rates, uncompressed, and at VR and professional displays.
No TV or console you can buy needs it yet. If you are choosing a cable today, buy Ultra High Speed HDMI for anything 4K 120 Hz. Ultra96 is a future-proofing choice, not a requirement.
